2.3.18 - Menus - Nouns - Open Outlook Contact for (Selected Noun)
This command works with Microsoft Outlook 97, 98, 2000, XP, or later.
It does not work with Outlook Express.
This command appears in the Nouns Menu when you've selected a person or an organization in the Nouns List, otherwise the command does not appear in the Nouns Menu.
When you choose this command, MindModel checks Outlook to see whether there is an Outlook contact record for the selected noun.
If so, MindModel opens the Outlook contact record for the selected noun. If not, MindModel creates an Outlook contact record for the selected noun, then opens it.
The Outlook contact record will look something like this:
You can enter as many comments in the area at the bottom of the window as you like. When you're done, click the "Save and Close" button, or the equivalent in your version of Outlook. The contact record will be saved just like any other contact record, so your comments will there the next time you open the contact record, whether you open it from MindModel or from Outlook.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This command is often overlooked by MindModel users, but is very useful. It allows you the freedom of free-text entry, combined with the clarity of MindModel statements. You can keep the information that models well in MindModel, and the information that doesn't model well in Outlook.
Power-User Tip: You can use the "Specify Outlook Contacts Folder" command in MindModel's Email Menu to specify which folder MindModel uses when communicating with Outlook. You can specify a private Outlook folder for private notes, or a public Outlook folder for notes you share with other people on your network.
