2.7.7 - Menus - Templates - Export Custom Column View Template to a Text File...

Exports a view template from the current model to a text file specified by the user.

What is a custom column view template?

For information on custom column view templates, refer to the section: Key Concepts: custom column view template (CCVT).

How does this command work?

Let's work through an example of this command in action.

Follow these steps:

1) Open the "AcmeTech" sample model.

To do this, use the "Open Model" command in MindModel's File menu.

The "AcmeTech" sample model is located at: C:\Program Files\MindModel\Sample Models.

Once you've opened the model, MindModel will display a Model Window.

2) Choose "Export Custom Column View Template to a Text File" from the Templates Menu.

MindModel will present you with a dialog showing the view templates for the model.

The dialog looks like this:

MINDMODEL00000097.gif

Choose "organization names and addresses" from the list, then click OK.

3) MindModel brings up a dialog asking you to name the text file.

MINDMODEL00000098.gif

Name the text file, then click Save.

You can open the text file in Notepad to view its contents.

Uses for This Feature

This feature can be used to move view templates from one model to another.

Just use this feature to export the view template from the first model, then use the "Import Custom Column View Template from a Text File" command to import the view template into the second model.

An Easier Way

If you have Microsoft Excel installed on your PC, you may find it easier to use the "Export Custom Column View Template to Excel" command than the "Export View Template to a Text File" command (this command).

We've provided the export to text file command for users who don't have Excel.
