2.10.6 - Menus - Tools - Parse Comma-Separated Values from Excel
This command converts Microsoft Excel spreadsheets from one format to another.
The details of this conversion are explained below.
NOTE: You must have Microsoft Excel installed on your PC to use this command.
This command is useful for converting spreadsheets for use with MindModel's "Import Statements from Excel by Row" command.
An Example
Let's say someone gives you a spreadsheet that looks like this:
You want to import this spreadsheet into MindModel.
Column A contains person names. That won't be a problem.
Column B contains skills.
For import into MindModel, each skill needs to be in its own cell in the spreadsheet.
Leave this spreadsheet open in Excel, and choose "Parse Comma-Separated Values from Excel" in MindModel's Tools Menu.
MindModel reads the spreadsheet, then creates one that looks like this:
You'll notice that MindModel has separated each of the items in column B of the original spreadsheet into its own cell. MindModel has also copied the information from Column A to keep the information together.
You now add a few more columns to the spreadsheet, leaving it looking like this:
You can now use the "Import Statements from Excel by Row" command in MindModel's File Menu to import these statements into MindModel.
