What is a Verb Type?

Information in MindModel is stored as nouns and statements.

Nouns are the people, places, things, ideas, etc. that are recorded in a model.

Statements are facts about those nouns.

Statements are composed of subject nouns, verbs, and (usually) object nouns.

A typical MindModel statement would be:

person: John Doe <works for> organization: MindModel Corporation

In this statement, "John Doe" is the subject noun, "works for" is the verb, and "MindModel Corporation" is the object noun.

NOTE: For our purposes, "verb type" and "verb" are the same thing.

Verb Categories

There are over 600 verbs in MindModel, to help you express many different types of relationships between nouns.

To make verbs easier to handle, we've organized them into verb categories.

"Business", "contact information", and "family tree" are examples of verb categories.

The Help with Verb Types Windows allows you to browse the MindModel verbs by category.

The Help with Verb Types Window

Browsing Verbs by Category

Choose an item from the category drop-down list at the top of the window to find verbs in that category.

Finding a Verb

You can use the "Find" area at the bottom of the window to find a specific verb.

Enter part of the verb you are looking for, and MindModel will fill the list with verbs that match your entry.

For example, if you enter "works" (without the quotes) in the entry area, MindModel will fill the list with five verbs:

no longer works for

works for

works for the department

works on

works with

To refill the list will all verbs, erase the word "works", leaving the Find entry area blank.

Printing Verbs

If you open the Help with Verb Types Window, then choose "Print" from the File Menu, MindModel will print the list of verb types.
