1.3.2 - Windows - Model Window - Nouns List

MINDMODEL00000043.gif

The Nouns List is the list at the top of the Model Window.

MindModel displays nouns in the Nouns List.

Nouns are the people, places, things, ideas, etc. that are stored in a model.

In the picture of the Model Window above, "Agnes Levine" is the currently-selected noun.

When a noun is selected in the Nouns List, the Noun Summary Window displays information about that noun.

Any of the MindModel commands that find or create nouns display those nouns in the Nouns List.

Double-clicking on a noun in the Nouns List fills the Statements List with all statements related to that noun.

To learn more about finding statements related to a noun, refer to the section: Feature Guide: Menu: Nouns Menu: Find Statements for Selected Noun.

Clearing the Nouns List

Clicking the arrow to the left of the "Nouns List" label brings up a menu which allows you to clear the Nouns List. Note that clearing the Nouns List does not delete any nouns from the model. It just empties the list.

Shortcut: Double-clicking on the label "Nouns List" above the Nouns List also clears the Nouns List.

Another shortcut: Double-clicking on the item to the right of the words "Nouns List" (in this case "(41 people)") randomly selects a noun from the Nouns List, then finds all statements for the randomly-selected noun. This command is useful for browsing through a model to help you memorize information about the nouns in the model. Every time you double-click on the nouns list count, MindModel will show you statements for another noun.

Yet Another Shortcut: Right-clicking on any noun in the Nouns List brings up the Nouns Menu. This is the same Nouns Menu that appears in MindModel's menu bar, at the top of the screen. Right-clicking allows you to select a noun, then choose a menu item without having to move the mouse to the top of the screen.

One More Shortcut: Holding down the Alt key while double-clicking on a noun in the Nouns List opens the file or web address linked to the double-clicked noun, if any file or web address is associated with that noun. For more information on linking files to nouns, refer to the section: Advanced Q&A: How to Link Pictures to Nouns.

OK, There's Still Another Shortcut: Holding down the Shift key while clicking on a noun in the Nouns List toggles between marking and unmarking the noun. To learn more about marking and unmarking nouns, refer to the section: Feature Guide: Menus: Nouns Menu: Mark Selected Noun.
