1.3.3 - Windows - Model Window - Find/Add Statements Area
The Find/Add Statements Area is the part of the Model Window that allows you to find statements in or add statements to the model.
We could have put separate areas in the Model Window for finding or adding statements, but since these two commands have so much in common (they both require you to select a noun or statement first), we decided to save space in the Model Window and combine these two commands in one area.
The picture above shows the Find/Add Statements area of the Model Window.
In that picture, there are two radio buttons: "Find" and "Add".
These are called radio buttons because they behave the way buttons did on car radios in the 1970's and earlier. Pushing one button selected that button and deselected the other buttons.
In the picture above, the "Add" radio button is selected.
There are three steps to finding or adding statements:
1) Select a noun or a statement.
2) Select the "Find" or "Add" radio button.
3) Click the button to the right of the "Statements for" label, in this case: "Bill Rogers".
Let's Work Through an Example
1) Select a noun or a statement
If, for example, you want to find statements for "John Doe" you would first select "John Doe" in the Nouns List.
If you want to add statements for "John Doe" you would do the same thing.
If the noun you want to select appears in a statement, you could select that statement in the Statements List, instead of selecting a noun.
2) Select the "Find" or "Add" Radio Button
Select the button that corresponds to what you want to do.
If you want to find statements for a noun, select the "Find" radio button.
If you want to add statements for a noun, select the "Add" radio button.
If the button you need to select is already selected, you can leave it as-is.
3) Click the "Bill Rogers" Button
In your case, the "Bill Rogers" button probably won't be named "Bill Rogers".
Its name will depends on the noun or statement you selected.
Click this button to find or add statements for the noun whose name appears in the button.
If you chose to "Find" statements (in step #2, above), MindModel will fill the Statements List with all statements related to the noun. For more information on finding statements related to a noun, refer to the section: Feature Guide: Menus: Nouns: Find Statements for Selected Noun.
If you chose to "Add" statements (in step #2, above), MindModel will open the Add/Edit Statement Wizard, which allows you to add a statement for the noun.
