1.3.4 - Windows - Model Window - Statements List

MINDMODEL00000027.gif

The Statements List is the list at the bottom of the Model Window.

MindModel displays statements in the Statements List.

Statements are facts about the nouns in a model. Nouns are the people, places, things, idea, etc. in a model.

The picture above shows a number of statements, all related to the noun "Allison Morales".

Many of the MindModel commands that find or create statements display those statements in the Statements List.

How to Take Nouns from the Statements List and Add Them to the Nouns List

As you're reading the Statements List pictured above, you may realize that you want to know more about Dale Ritcey, the subject of the first statement in the list.

The quickest way to find out more about Dale Ritcey is to double-click on "Dale Ritcey" in the Subject column of the list. Remember to double-click directly on "Dale Ritcey". Don't double-click on the column header above or the statement below.

The picture below shows where you should double-click. You are aiming for the area inside the red rectangle. The red rectangle doesn't appear on the MindModel screen. It's just there in the picture to show you where to double-click.

Once you've double-clicked on "Dale Ritcey", MindModel will put "Dale Ritcey" in the Nouns List, at the top of the Model Window. You can then double-click on "Dale Ritcey" in the Nouns List to find all the statements related to Dale.

Power-User Tip: Before double-clicking on "Dale Ritcey" in the Nouns List, you may want to use the "Clone Model Window" command in the Windows Menu. Doing so will open another Model Window. You can double-click on "Dale Ritcey" in this new Model Window, leaving the old Model Window intact. This way, you'll retain the contents of your original Statements List with information on Allison Morales.

Another Power-User Tip: If you hold down the control (Ctrl) key while double-clicking on a noun in the Statements List, MindModel will select the noun in the Nouns List after adding the noun to the Nouns List. This feature saves you the time of selecting the noun yourself.

This same double-clicking feature works in the Object column and the Prepositions column.

The following picture shows where you would click to add "Microsoft Excel" or "Denise Santos" to the Nouns List.

Clearing the Statements List

Clicking the arrow to the left of the "Statements List" label brings up a menu which allows you to clear the Statements List. Note that clearing the Statements List does not delete any statements from the model. It just empties the list.

Shortcut: Double-clicking on the label "Statements List" above the Statements List also clears the list.

Another shortcut: Double-clicking on the item to the right of the words "Statements List" (in this case "(8 statements in the list)") randomly selects a statement from the Statements List. This command is useful for browsing through a very long Statements List to help you memorize information in the list. Every time you double-click on the statements list count, MindModel will select another statement.

Yet Another Shortcut: Right-clicking on any statement in the Statements List brings up the Statements Menu. This is the same Statements Menu that appears in MindModel's menu bar, at the top of the screen. Right-clicking allows you to select a statement, then choose a menu item without having to move the mouse to the top of the screen.
