2.2 - View information in a model
Now that you've opened the "AcmeTech.min" sample model, the next step is to find out what type of information is contained in that model.
Information in MindModel is stored as nouns and statements.
Nouns are people, places, things, etc.
Statements are facts about those people, places, things, etc.
To keep things organized, MindModel categorizes nouns into categories called "noun types".
A quick way to get an idea of the type of information in a model is to find the noun types of all the nouns in the model.
Finding the Noun Types of All the Nouns in a Model
When you first open MindModel, the Noun Type Categories drop-down at the top of the Noun Types Window is set to "basic types", as shown in the picture below.
Click and hold where it says "basic types" to display the Noun Type Categories drop-down menu.
Scroll up towards the top of this menu, then choose "<included in this model>" from the menu.
After you've chosen "<included in this model>" the Noun Types Window will look like this:
Industries, job titles, languages, locations, etc. are all displayed in the Noun Types List, because the AcmeTech model contains nouns of these types.
Beverages, books, films, etc. are not displayed in the Noun Types List, because the AcmeTech model doesn't contain any nouns of these types.
Finding All Nouns of One Type
If you want to see all the nouns of a specific type in a model, you can do so by double-clicking on that type in the Noun Types List.
For example, double-click on "organizations" in the Noun Types List, and MindModel will fill the Nouns List in the Model Window with all the organizations in the model.
