Statements

Statements are facts about nouns.

Nouns are the people, places, things, ideas, etc. that are stored in a model.

For information about nouns, please refer to the section: Key Concepts: noun.

The picture below shows the Statements List, part of the Model Window.

NOTE: You can find this sample model at: C:\Program Files\Sample Models\AcmeTech.min if you've installed MindModel on your computer.  You can use the "File Menu: Open Model" command to open the model.

This sample model contains information about a fictional organization called "Acme Technology Corporation".  The model contains information about people, organizations, software packages, skills, and a number of other topics.

The statements in the model record facts about the nouns in the model.

So, in the picture above, you see that Kent Ortiz knows how to use Microsoft Access and Adobe Photoshop, speaks Spanish, knows CPR, etc.

Each of these items in the Statements List are statements.

Why do we need statements?  Why can't we just enter information free-form?

MindModel is a tool for organizing information.  Using statements to link nouns helps you retrieve that information.

If you don't categorize the information on the way in, you may save time and feel good during the data-entry process.  However, you may waste time and feel bad when it comes time to recall the information.

What are the parts of a statement?

A statement is composed of a subject noun, a verb, and an object noun.

In addition, some statements contain prepositional phrases.
