What is MindModel?
MindModel is very easy-to-use relational database software that allows you to store and recall information on any topic.
Use it to create databases of people, companies, products, research data, or anything else, all without programming.
Since it's truly relational, you can look up information from any angle. Look up a person and see where they work. Look up a company and see who works there. Look up customers and see what they bought. Look up products and see who bought them.
There are three products in the MindModel product family:
1) MindModel Desktop
MindModel Desktop runs on your PC, to keep your information completely private.
It uses the familiar Windows user interface, for quick and easy data entry and recall.
2) MindModel Multi-User
MindModel Multi-User works just like MindModel Desktop, but it also allows you to share a models over a local-area network (LAN).
3) MindModel Web Server
MindModel Web Server (MMWS) allows you to create commercial-quality, database-backed web sites without programming. It can take models (databases created with MindModel Desktop) and turn them into fully-functional web sites, accessible from all over the world.
It takes no training and no special software to browse a MMWS web site.
To see MMWS in action, visit the Samples section of our web site: http://www.mindmodel.com.
What kind of information can I put into MindModel?
Since 1996, MindModel has been evolving to handle a wide range of personal and business information.
People in over twenty-seven countries have used MindModel to create databases on any topic imaginable: human resources, inventory, business intelligence, PhD research, substance abuse counseling, education, medical data, and many more.
MindModel is based on a very simple idea. Information in MindModel is stored as statements, which are similar to English sentences. There are over 45,000 types of statements that MindModel can handle, all organized neatly into categories, so they're very easy to use.
The Getting Started section of this documentation guides you through MindModel's basic features. In this section, you'll browse the sample databases included with MindModel. These will give you more information on the type of information that MindModel handles well.
If you have any questions at all about MindModel, including whether or not it will work with your data, please feel free to contact us by email or by phone. We look forward to hearing from you.
Who will benefit most from MindModel?
MindModel's most satisfied users are people who have a critical need for a database, but don't have the time, money, or skills to create one from scratch.
Many database products allow you to create single-table (non-relational) databases without any special skills. But creating relational databases (those that link relevant information together) often requires years of training.
MindModel allows you to create any number of databases, with any number of relations, with absolutely no programming.
For example, with MindModel, you can create a database of products, customers, and dates.
The following queries are easy to do:
- List all customers.
- Show the purchase history of one customer.
- List all shipping dates.
- Show what was shipped on a given date.
- List all products.
- Show all customers that purchased that product.
- Check whether a customer purchased a product.
And more...
MindModel allows you to enter data through the familiar Windows interface. For large data sets, you can import data from text files, or from Excel spreadsheets.
Many of our most satisfied customers came to us with unwieldy spreadsheets that really should have been databases. We showed them how to format those databases and import them into MindModel, for instant conversion to relational databases.
You can also import contact information from Microsoft Outlook. You can synchronize MindModel with Outlook to keep your information up-to-date.
